Children's University News - July 2014

The Hive would like to congratulate Ger Graus, the founding Chief Executive of the Children's University on his appointment of honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE). The honour is in recognition of his services to children and young people. Further information.

Carroll Singers in July!            

The Hive-Croydon hosted The Carroll Singers on 9 July 2014. “Music for a Summer’s Evening”, was directed by Norma Carroll and included show and musical tunes sung by the Chamber Choir of past pupils from Coloma Girl’s School. Many thanks to all of those who came along and took part in the raffle and retiring collection.

Hever Castle - April 2014

We recently visited Hever Castle to validate them as a Croydon Children's University learning destination. Less than an hour from Croydon, it is a stunning venue in lovely grounds and has all sorts of children's activities including some fantastic trails. Great for a day out where you can earn some CU learning hours.

Croydon Vision - March 2014

Due to their hall being refurbished, we are hosting Croydon Vision for a few months at our venue. Bowls, dancing, social groups, music and lunches. A great opportunity for our charities to support each other.

February looks to be a really busy month for THE HIVE. We are running the AMFLA course, holding a Croydon Children's University graduation and recruiting for CU Ambassadors (see our Christmas newsletter below).

Two day course 5 and 12 February 2014 for primary school leaders, key stage 2 coordinators and primary school teachers with responsibility for languages.

Mulling over the Grapevine - November 2013


The HIVE hosted Croydon Chamber of Commerce Christmas Grapevine networking event on 28 November 2013. Guests enjoyed a festive atmosphere with mulled wine and mince pies.   Entertainment was provided by our very own HIVE community choir. Executive Director, Lesley Stout spoke about the aims of The HIVE and working closely with local businesses to help the employability skills of Croydon's young people.
