We were delighted to work in partnership with CALAT to deliver our first Family Learning Programme for parents and children at Howard Primary School this term.

CALAT courses are run in partnership with schools, libraries, children’s centres and family and community centres.

CALAT Family Learning leads the way in working with parents and carers through our Skills for Life programmes. These programmes are part of a government strategy created to improve the literacy, language and numeracy skills of all adults in the UK.

They are taught by specialist tutors and are free for eligible parents and their families. Many courses offer the chance to work towards an exam.

CALAT Family Learning also offers a popular and successful programme of short family courses, where mums, dads, grandparents and carers can enjoy learning.

Children also received their first Children’s University Passport to Learning and credits to work towards their first Bronze Award.

What Parents said

I really looked forward to coming every week.

It was so good to spend time learning new things with my child

I can see how my child has benefitted from the workshops, they were fun and I feel confident to try doing them at home

I am sad that the workshops have come to an end, I ant more of them!
